SEEK-ART - Contemporary Art Consultant and Appraisal

I have over 20 years of experience actively working in the art market, and cultural production.  My specialty is contemporary art, including works that fall under time-based media - video, film, slide, audio, or computer technologies.

My professional goal is to meet each client's unique needs objectively and with discretion and confidentiality. Due to my unique position as a curator and consultant, I have developed long-term relationships within the creative sector and market. I keep up with what is going on in art schools, galleries, museums, studios, fairs, and auctions, as a means to keep up with the ever-changing modes of operation and market in the world today.

I can assist in all aspects of a collection's future care. From archiving and documentation to shipping, insurance, storage, framing, installation, and conservation.

I am an accredited member of the Appraisers Association of America, and I am compliant with USPAP ( Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) 2022. As an appraiser, I can assist in institutional loans, donations, and inventory appraisals.

Why do I need an appraisal?

The IRS requires an appraisal for non-cash charitable donations of over $5,000. See IRS Publications 561 and 562. Appraisals for estates are done to determine the fair market value of the artwork. See IRS form 706. Appraisals for gifts are done to determine the fair market value of the gift. See IRS form 709. Appraisals for insurance determine the retail replacement value for artwork.
